LE GINESTRE was an old period country house, caringly renovated to maintain it's original caricature of stone walls and open wooden beams, hatched with fresh colours and trompl'oyal art.

We are located in the village of Massarossa, a perfect place to spend a few days in the heart of Versilia. We are 10 minutes from mountain town of Lucca and the famous beaches of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi. Pisa with it's famous leaning tower can be reached within 20 minutes and a visit to the beautiful city of Florence is only 50 minutes away. The character of Massarossa and surrounding areas is set by the age-old Olive trees covering the hills as a mantle. Olive Oil is one of the typical natural products of this area and is still made in traditional mills as it has been for generations.

LE GINESTRE is set against the Apuan Alps, ideal for those who seek the mountain paths. From the peaks of the mountains are the most striking views. Enjoy the spectacular sunset as it reflects over the waters of the Massaciuccoli lake chorused with the music of Giacomo Puccini's music, still alive today and a must for an excursion to a natural "Oasis".

The Massaciuccoli lake is set in the Migliarino national park famous for it's stilt birds, herons and many other protected species. Archiological finds from the Roman Era also contribute to the wonder of the Massaciuccoli.

The neighbouring town of Viareggio is one of Europe's most popular seaside holiday destinations with miles of sandy beaches. It is the home of the Italian "Carnival" with all of the party spectacle that goes with the festival. You will also find exciting night life with bars and lively disco's.
